(Perfect timing alert: With all the heat I've been taking today from the Canucks for my FPM article (discussed below), I thought the announcement today that Iraqi Shiite Ayatollah Sistani has issued a fatwa telling Muslims not to attack Canada to be very timely. Do you believe he did this because the Canadians are more friendly, or less friendly, to America's cause? Needless to say, I think it's the latter. )
My new article, Terror from the North, headlines today at FrontPageMag.com. It describes the Canadian complicity in the al-Qaeda Millennium plot to blow up LAX. I also had another Canadian-related terrorism article published last week I never mentioned here, Canadian Blindness to Terror. It discusses the connection between the men arrested two weeks ago in the Toronto area who had purchased three tons of ammonium nitrate (more than three times that used in the Oklahoma City bombing) to wage jihad, and the Khadr family, described by some experts as the "First Family of Canadian Terrorism".
UPDATE: Thanks to the National Terror Alert Resource Center for the plug.

Sir:
I am a Canadian living in the US. I fear that you are over reacting to the threat from Canada. While I agree that Canada needs to take terrorism more seriously, I believe that every Western nation needs to, including the US.
Lets not forget about the 6 men arrested in Lacawana, NY. All 19 hijackers entered the US, but not from Canada.
Ressam is just one incident. Meanwhile it has become apparent that 2 Georgia men entered Canada to meet with some of the 17 arrested suspects in Toronto.
Canada seems to have arrested more domestic terror suspects than the US, so perhaps we Canadians should be more concerned that the US hasn't arrested enough Muslim terrorists.
Must join the chorus above, they're totally right. Also, the below sentence is completely false. The piece is well-written and I understand your frustration, but check the facts.
The first thing that Ressam did was sign up for welfare – an almost automatic occurrence for immigrants arriving in Canada, who are all offered welfare payments, free health care, access to schools and the immediate right to work.
Three people beat me to it.
I can only add that excessive finger-pointing at Canada may cause too much relaxation about the USA's own problems: your courts, rivalry between security organizations and worst of all, leftish, anti-Republican politicization of key bureaucracies.
Sorry folks, if Ressam had been successful (which was only averted due to the intervention of US authorities, and not the Canadians) we wouldn't be having this discussion about my pretended "overreaction". We would be talking about the widows and orphans. If there is any overreaction, it is with the Canucks and their leftist bootlickers who are afraid to confront their suicidal immigration policies (the worst in the world) and their unwillingness to deal with the terrorists living openly up north.
It seems I have to spell out what I meant:
I was not being defensive and agree that there are major problems in the areas of immigration and security. The "worst in the world" is debatable - I think the U.K. is the worst; the point is that these problems are endemic to all Western countries to a greater or lesser extent. All have issues due to our laws and pressure from the left to effectively capitulate.
By demonizing Canada as a whole, you are encouraging your readers to forget about things the US needs to do on the security front. There are plenty of horror stories emanating from your country too.
With the recent arrest of 17 would-be terrorists intent on attacking within Canada, we are finally facing the collective thought process of actually dealing with this problem. I notice the U.S. has not had much luck in actually convicting people on terrorism and hope the Canadian judiciary can learn from this. There are some good signs. Having a new conservative government should also be a great asset in improving Canada’s response to terrorism/Islamism.
* side note: these are not the first (alleged) terrorists we’ve nabbed but it is embarrassing that the public has only woken up because they intended to do their work here. Britain allowed all kinds of hard-core types to flourish in the 90s assuming they would only bomb in the Middle East and Asia. The U.S. had a World trade Center bombing in the 90s and still stayed asleep. Human nature can only be described.
dak, your government did everything but drive Ressam to the border. And you really want to argue about the meaning of complicity? Some would say that it borders on conspiracy, but I'll let it pass as typical Canadian incompetence.
And thermblog, "demonizing Canada as a whole"? You might want to try ratcheting down your own rhetoric before complaining about mine. If you Canucks expended half your energies addressing your own terror problems as you do blameshifting your failures to the US you just might finally contribute something to human civilization except whining. Bunch of pansies.
And go Hurricanes!
